1. Who We Are

ClipGuild operates the platform at clipguild.com (the "Service"). We are the data controller for personal data collected through the Service. For privacy enquiries, contact us at privacy@clipguild.com.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Account data: Name, email address, and profile image — provided by you or your OAuth provider (e.g. Google) when you sign up.
  • Role data: Whether you are a Brand or Clipper, set during onboarding.
  • Wallet data: Your Solana wallet address, if you choose to add one, for the purpose of receiving USDC payouts.
  • Campaign data: Campaign briefs, budgets, application pitches, and clip submission URLs you provide.
  • Performance data: View counts, engagement rates, and other metrics retrieved from third-party social media platforms for clip verification.
  • Usage data: Pages visited, actions taken on the platform, and timestamps — collected via server logs.
  • Analytics data: Aggregated, anonymised traffic data collected via self-hosted Plausible Analytics (no cookies, no cross-site tracking).

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service.
  • Verify your identity and manage your account (via Clerk).
  • Process campaign applications, clip submissions, and USDC payouts.
  • Verify clip performance against campaign targets.
  • Communicate service-critical information (account activity, payout confirmations).
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the UK, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

  • Contract performance: Processing necessary to provide the Service you have signed up for (account management, payouts, campaign operations).
  • Legitimate interests: Security, fraud prevention, and product improvement — where these do not override your rights.
  • Legal obligation: Where we are required by law to retain or disclose data.
  • Consent: For any non-essential cookies or optional communications, where we rely on your consent.

5. Cookies

We use only essential, functional cookies necessary to keep you signed in and to protect against CSRF attacks. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

Our analytics are powered by self-hosted Plausible Analytics, which is privacy-preserving by design: it does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track users across sites.

You may withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time by clicking "Decline" on the cookie notice or by clearing your browser's local storage for clipguild.com.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following sub-processors to operate the Service:

  • Clerk (clerk.com): Identity and authentication. Processes your name, email, and OAuth tokens. Governed by Clerk's own privacy policy.
  • Solana blockchain: Payout transactions are recorded on a public blockchain. Wallet addresses and transaction amounts are publicly visible on-chain.
  • Hostinger VPS: Our server infrastructure. Data is stored in the EU.
  • Social media platforms: We retrieve publicly available metrics (views, engagement) from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and X APIs for performance verification. We do not store your social media credentials.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we will remove or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g. financial records) or where data has been recorded on a public blockchain (which we cannot alter).

8. Your Rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are located in the EEA or UK, you have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Erasure: Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten"), subject to legal retention obligations.
  • Restriction: Request that we restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances.
  • Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@clipguild.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority (e.g. the ICO in the UK).

9. International Transfers

Our infrastructure is based in the EU. Authentication data is processed by Clerk, which may transfer data to the United States. Clerk is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Blockchain transactions are processed on the Solana network, which is globally distributed.

10. Children's Privacy

ClipGuild is not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, please contact us immediately.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated by posting an updated policy with a revised date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
